Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Community members gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support public safety in DC.

“She was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to help others.”

Funeral plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident prompted the administration to pause asylum processing and halt providing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
