Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have ā€œnothing more to add at this timeā€.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
