Fans Demand Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the actress are demanding that a individual who jumped a fence and touched the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared clip reveals the individual from Australia pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile features clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another response on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted guards at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some requested digital services to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande looked startled when she was touched by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two contrasting characters.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and scored a dozen award recognitions, securing two for best costume and set decoration.
