Barcelona to Host Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present under the licence granted. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou in early November. They mentioned approval is being pursued by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side next month at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
